Since 2003 AMTS develops three joining processes for magnesium and hybrid (Mg-Al) components:
- Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG)
- Resistance Spot Welding (RSW)
- Adhesive bonding
- Laser Beam Welding (LBW)
The specialization in assembly contains the following subjects as well as specific activities of surface treatment and coatings that were also developed in AMTS (click here for information on STD):
- Joining processes and surface treatment processes are not to be separated!
- Procedures for insertion of steel/stainless steel inserts into a magnesium structure in order to prevent galvanic cell have been developed.
- Methods for coupling parts from different materials have been developed.
- Expereince in riveting.
The experience in joining and assembly has been accumulated by producing canisters, complex components and kinematic envelopes over the years.
Below you can see some components that were manufactured and asembled at Palbam. |
